HYDE COUNTY COURTHOUSE BELL PROJECT
In 2018, the Swan Quarter Volunteer Fire Department began working on a community project to raise funds to build a permanent display for the old cast iron bell that hung outside the courthouse almost one hundred years ago. The plan included a small landscaped park area, with benches, located between the old 1854 courthouse and the newer Hyde County Government Center in the county seat of Swan Quarter.
Completed project located in the greenway between the Hyde County Government Center and the old Hyde County Courthouse, 20 Oyster Creek Road, Swan Quarter.
Bronze plaque dedicating the project to the Hyde County Community.
The display includes a time capsule to be opened in December 2069.
The small park area is dedicated to Hyde County's commercial fishermen.
